Health and Safety Services

Red Cross Health and Safety training is provided to approximately 30,000 people each year in Benton, Curry, Coos, Douglas, Lane, Lincoln and Linn counties.  Courses are offered in First Aid, CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Water Safety and Lifeguard Training.  A class Schedule is published quarterly for individuals; private lessons can be arranged for businesses, schools and community groups.

First Aid, CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Courses

Standard First Aid with Adult CPR/AED
This class teaches easy-to-learn emergency procedures that prepare lay responders to act in emergency situations and recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults.  Participants learn first aid skills to treat a variety of injuries such as burns, wounds, head, neck and back injuries, and heat- and cold-related emergencies.  Participants also learn to manage suddent illnesses, stroke, seizures, bites and poisoning.  Cost: $40 The first 4 hours of this course is the CPR/AED section. The cost for that section only is $34. The cost for the First Aid only is $32. All students interested in First Aid only must have a current CPR certification.

Clase de Primeros Auxilios y CPR de Adultos

Esta clase enseña los procedimientos que preparan a las personas responder a y tratar con las emergencias respiratorias y cardiacas en adultos.  Los participantes aprenderán las destrezas necesarias para sostener la vida, aminorar el dolor, y reducir las consecuencias negativas que resultan de las heridas y las enfermedades repentinas.  Costo: $40 El costo de solamente la sección de CPR es $34.  El costo de solamente los Primeros Auxilios es $32.  Para tomar la sección de Primeros Auxilios nada más, los participantes deben tener la certificación actual de CPR.

Standard First Aid with Child CPR/AED & Infant CPR
This class teaches emergency procedures that prepare lay responders to care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in children under the age of 12.  Participants will learn the skills necessary to help sustain life, minimize pain, and reduce negative consequences due to injury or sudden illness. Cost: $40.00 The CPR section will be the first 4 hours of this course. The cost for that section only is $34.00.  The cost for First Aid only is $32.00. All students interested in First Aid only must have a current CPR certification.

Community First Aid and Safety
This class teaches emergency procedures that prepare lay responders to care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants.  Participants will learn the skills necessary to help sustain life, minimize pain, and reduce the negative consequences due to injury or sudden illness.  Cost: $47 The CPR section will be the first 4.5 hours of this course. The cost for this section only is $42.00. The cost for Fist Aid only is $32. All students interested in first aid only must have a current CPR certification.

Standard First Aid Only

Participants will learn the emergency skills necessary to help sustain life,  minimize pain and reduce negative consequences.  No prior certification required for this Class.  Cost: $32

 

Bloodborne Pathogens: Preventing Disease Transmission

Participants will learn how bloodborne pathogens spread, how to prevent exposures and what to do if exposed to infectious materials.  Cost: $20


First Aid, CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Review Courses

Adult CPR/AED Review

This course is the perfect opportunity to be recertified for CPR in half the time before your current certification expires.  Participants must have a current Red Cross Adult CPR certification to take the review course.  Cost: $25

 

Child CPR/AED & Infant CPR Review

If your infant and child CPR certification is close to its expiration date, now is the time to take a review course and recertify.  Participants must have a current Red Cross Infant/Child CPR certification to take the review course.  Cost: $25

 

Community Adult/Child CPR/AED & Infant CPR Review

If your Adult, Infant and Child CPR certification is close to its expiration date, now is the time to take a review course and recertify.  Participants must have a current Red Cross Adult/Infant & Child CPR certification to take the review course.  Cost: $30


Courses for Professional Rescuers

 

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer

This class is designed for any individual who has a duty to respond to emergencies.  It combines lectures and video with hands-on skill training and it incorporates real-life rescue scenarios and lessons that reinforce decision-making skills.  This class covers Adult/Child AED & CPR and Infant CPR; two-person CPR; use of a bag-valve mask; and introduction to Emergency Medical Services and bloodborne pathogens.  This course meets Level C CPR requirements.  It is the pre-requisite for most nursing and EMT programs.  Included in the class fee is a breathing barrier (seal easy or pocket mask) used by professional caregivers.  Cost: $55

 

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Review

This class is an opportunity to be recertified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer without taking the full class, before your certification expires.  Participants must have a current Red Cross Professional Rescuer certification to take the review course.  Cost: $40
