Introduction to Disaster Services                  
Required for all other Disaster Classes.

Provides basic information about disasters and their effects, outlines the
role of agencies (both governmental and non-governmental) in disaster
relief, and introduces the participants to American Red Cross
Disaster Services.
This is a 3 hour class

Disaster Assessment Workshop
Provides an overview of the concepts, procedures, tools and
resources to effectively determine the amount of damage a resident has sustained.
This is a 3 hour class
Prerequisites: Intro to Disaster Services

Mass Care: An Overview
Provides basic information about the activities of the Mass Care
function (sheltering and feeding). Participants will learn about the skills and abilities needed by Mass Care workers and how they can get started in their local chapter.
This is a 3 hour class
Prerequisites: Intro to Disaster Services

Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance
Learn the skills necessary to perform quality interviews, complete
forms, provide referrals and meet the emergency needs of those affected
by disaster.
This is an 8 hour class
Prerequisites: Intro to Disaster Services

Shelter Operations
Learn to effectively and sensitively manage shelter operations as a
team to meet the needs of people displaced as a result of disaster.
Participants will be able to demonstrate shelter opening, operating and
closing procedures; work as a team to provide quality shelter services
to clients and address common shelter problems effectively.
This is a 4 hour class
Prerequisites: Intro to Disaster Services, Mass Care Overview.

Shelter Simulation
Participants will practice the knowledge and skills learned in Shelter Operations in order to run a successful shelter operation.
This is a 4 hour class & is normally done the same day as the Shelter operations class
Prerequisites: Intro to Disaster Services, Mass Care Overview and Shelter
Operations.
